Nancy Carlson will be visiting our elementary students. We are very excited to host this well-known author and illustrator!
Along with her presentations to students, Carlson will also be presenting to District 241 parents and families on Monday, February 24th at Halverson Elementary School from 6-7pm.
Each child in attendance will be able to pick a free book from our grant we received. We will also draw for prizes - lunch with the Mayor, lunch with your principal, lunch with a fireman and lunch with the Police Chief. The guests will go to the school where the student attends and eat in the lunchroom with the winner and their friends.

District 241 will be conducting registration for all students planning to attend kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year. In order to qualify for kindergarten, your child must be 5 years old prior to September 1st, 2014.
Registration will be February 25th from 2:00-7:00pm at the Board Room in the Brookside Education Center located at 211 W. Richway Drive.
Reading Partners is designed to give children some extra help with comprehension and fluency. Community volunteers work with children before or after school for half an hour once a week. If you would like to have your child receive this extra help with reading, fill out the permission slip attached and return it to the school office.
Albert Lea Fine Arts Department will be hosting a SE Minnesota Outreach Staff Development evening for teachers around the area. This experience is being sponsored by a grant awarded to Albert Lea through the Perpich Center for Arts Education located in Golden Valley, MN.
